Show-Me-A-Hero is an HBO miniseries which is based on real life events. Based on the 1999 non-fiction work by Huffington Post’s Senior Columnist and former New York Times reporter Lisa Belkin, the series debuted to universal acclaim and garnered rave reviews from the critics. HBO ordered a total of six episodes for the series and premiered them in August’ 2015.

Show-Me-A-Hero Storyline

When a federal judge orders building of 200 scattered-site public houses within the mostly white and affluent section of Yonkers, a city in Westchester County, New York; it divides the city along racial and political lines. Mayor Nick Wasicsko, who got recently elected to the office and becomes a supporter of desegregation, faces stiff resistance and open hostility from city council and political leaders. When the city faces crippling fines for its opposition to the scheme, the event ignites a national debate on sensitive issues like class, race and housing.

How To Watch Show-Me-A-Hero Online?

All the six episodes of the miniseries are available for streaming via HBO Go or HBO Now at http://www.hbo.com/show-me-a-hero/episodes/index.html. The series also premiered in Australia, United Kingdom and Canada on Showcase, Sky Atlantic and HBO Canada respectively. However, if you are a resident of any other country or happen to be an expat or tourist who is touring overseas, you will see HBO’s famous Content Unavailable message (“To-access-HBO-Go, you-must-reside-within the-fifty-states-of the-United-States-of-America”) when you try to stream the show. That’s because, both HBO Go and HBO Now are available only to American subscribers at the moment.

How To Access The Miniseries From Anywhere?

In order to unlock the show from a non-US location, you need to get American IPs for your computer or mobile devices. That’s because, HBO relies on visitors’ IP addresses in order to detect their location and automatically redirects them to the Content Unavailable message when they happen to be from outside US. Apart from reliable IP changing solutions like VPNs, you can also use much cheaper SmartDNS services to watch the show from abroad.

Here are the steps involved in unblocking the series from anywhere:

Step 1) Order a monthly subscription of a reliable VPN or SmartDNS service. Here are some recommended services which allow you to unlock HBO shows from anywhere:

Step 2) Follow the setup instructions to configure the VPN or SmartDNS service on your computer or mobile device. Most of the above providers offer a customized client but some of them do ask you to configure the service manually.

Step 3) Save all the changes and reboot your machine. For mobile devices, it is usually enough to save the changes and then close and restart the HBO app for the changes to take effect.

Step 4) Start the newly installed VPN service by clicking on its Desktop icon. If you configured the service manually then you may have to navigate to the Network Connections area to establish a connection with the VPN server.

Step 5) Check your new IP by visiting an IP checking service. This step is optional but is highly recommended if your service provider has servers at dozens of places. Many VPN providers have got their default servers located within United States but if this is not the case, you must switch to an American server from the list of servers available before you visit the HBO website.

Step 6) Open the Show-Me-A-Hero homepage on HBO’s site and check whether you are able to stream the episodes. In case you still cannot watch them, you must flush the old network settings by closing and restarting your browser and/or HBO app.
