Wednesday, November 11th, 2015

Bloodline is an original drama-thriller series from Netflix. The 13-episode first season of the series made its debut in February’ 2015 to wide critical acclaim. The television series received several nominations in acting category and was officially renewed for a second season in March’ 2015.

What To Expect From Bloodline?

The story of Bloodline centers around the Rayburn family; the owners of a hotel in Florida Keys. When Danny, the eldest son who also happens to be the black sheep of the family; returns home on the day of his parents’ wedding anniversary, he sets in motion a chain of events which threatens the entire family. Would the warring siblings patch up to preserve their legacy or will their dark past lead to their downfall forms the crux of the story.

How To Watch Bloodline?

Bloodline is available for streaming from Netflix:

However, if you are a US expat, business traveler or a student studying abroad who is trying to access the show from a different country, you will see Netflix’s Content Unavailable message (“Sorry,-Netflix-is-not-available-in-your-country-yet”) instead of the series homepage. While Netflix is available in several countries, its content is usually tied to a specific location. This means shows like Bloodline are available only to US audiences while European and Latin American subscribers have to be content with shows geared towards their local culture. Like other content providers, Netflix uses sophisticated algorithms to detect and screen out visitors with non-US IP addresses so sometimes even genuine subscribers are blocked out due to their locations.

Can You Bypass Netflix’s Restrictions And Watch Bloodline From Outside US?

The good news is that it is fairly easy to get an American IP address from anywhere and access shows like Bloodline on Netflix. Proxies usually come to mind when you think about changing IP address but the truth is they are not the fastest or the most efficient way to access streaming shows from US (or any other location). Savvy users are more likely to use a Virtual Private Network or a SmartDNS service to access their favorite shows since they deliver ultra-fast speeds. Here the steps involved in unblocking Bloodline with a VPN service:

Step 1) The very first step is to subscribe to a VPN or Smart DNS service that provides you with an American IP address (or supports Netflix streaming). If you have never subscribed to a VPN service before, here are some good recommendations from my side:

VPN – ExpressVPNHideMyAssIPVanishVyprVPN, proXPNOverplayStrongVPN, PureVPNPrivate Internet AccessVPNSecureVPN.ac, and Unblock-US

Step 2) After subscribing, you need to set up the service on your computer or mobile device. Depending on the type of service you have subscribed to and your service provider, this may involve installing a software or tinkering with Network Settings of your device.

Step 3) Save the changes after the installation/configuration is complete and restart the machine (as well as the Netflix app). This is essential because you want your app to use the latest IP settings and not the ones that were stored previously.

Step 4) Connect to the VPN service through the Start Menu (in case of computers) or via the Network Settings area (for computers and mobile devices).

Step 5) After the connection is established, it is important to check the IP address assigned to you by your provider. This can be done by visiting an IP visiting site or by using the in-built IP testing tool available with some VPN clients. Since most VPN companies deploy servers at various locations, you need to double check that you indeed have an American IP before trying to watch Netflix shows.

Step 6) Visit the Bloodline series home page once again and see whether you can browse through the list of episodes and watch them. If you still see the Content Unavailable message, close and restart Netflix app to discard the previous Network settings. You can now watch Bloodline from any location in the world.
