RAMVPN Review – [Service Not Available]

Saturday, September 5th, 2015

Note: At least as of November 5, 2015, the service is no longer available. If it does go back on, we highly recommend the service!

RAMVPN is a US based VPN service which made its debut in December’ 2014. Founded by professionals having years of experience in deploying networking and security solutions, the provider uses several innovative techniques to protect the privacy of its users. In this honest review, we look at what RAMVPN has to offer and why you should consider subscribing to the service.

Server Locations & Site Access – RAMVPN has VPN gateways in United States and Canada. The service is ideal for those who wish to access US or Canada based streaming services like Netflix, FOX, Pandora, CBC, ABC Player, City TV, Xfinity, CWTV, Hulu, Global TV, The Comedy Network, CTV, Much Music, NHL, Amazon Prime, USA Network, CBS, Bravo, Vevo, E!, Spacecast, NBC, HBO Go, MTV, Vudu, HBO Now, TNT and MLB from other parts of the world. Additionally, the service is helpful for office-goers, students and expats who want to bypass firewalls and networking restrictions set by their networks administrators or local governments (as in China, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Thailand) and access sites like Gmail, Twitter, YouTube, Skype, Line, Facebook or Viber. Unlike other service providers, RAMVPN doesn’t allow you to choose an exist node which means you will get an IP address from US or Canada on a random basis.

VPN Speed & Bandwidth – RAMVPN delivers unlimited bandwidth and guaranteed speeds of 5 MBPS (with 10 MBPS speed bursts) to all subscribers. This is indeed a plus point of the service since it allows subscribers to upload and download content, stream HD shows, play multiplayer games and use VOIP services without encountering any speed restrictions or monthly quotas.

Privacy Settings – RAMVPN uses one of the most secure VPN protocols (OpenVPN with 2048 bit security keys) to secure your online sessions. Additionally, the provider uses a number of methods to keep your information safe at all times:

1) The virtualized environment delivering VPN service is contained in encrypted RAM. Such a setup not only loads faster but is also capable of erasing all information upon reboot. The provider even randomizes the encryption key for every boot sequence which means it is nearly impossible to break into the system.

2) RAMVPN’s servers are located in a data center equipped with motion and temperature censors to detect any unauthorized activity. Any sign of physical intrusion, removal of RAM or changes in temperature triggers an immediate reboot of the server thereby erasing all session data.

3) The provider uses a dynamic IP routing model which prevents eavesdroppers from monitoring the activities of the subscribers.

4) The company asks bare minimum details during signup (it is possible to signup with a fake email address and pay through bitcoins) thereby allowing you to remain totally anonymous.

Because of the above factors, the service guarantees total protection of your personal data (bank login/password, social account details, IP address, identity etc.) as well as security from attackers when you are using a public Wi-Fi service.

As far as logging is concerned, RAMVPN doesn’t log any traffic details or personally identifiable information. Furthermore, the company doesn’t rent or sell subscriber data to third parties.

Supported Operating Systems – RAMVPN works with Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10), Mac OS X(via Tunnelblick), Android and iOS (both via OpenVPN Connect) as well as Linux. There is no custom client available for any OS so subscribers need to set up the service manually. However, the configuration is quite easy so you can be up and running in less than 5 minutes.

Customer Support – RAMVPN offers customer support via email and support tickets.

Pricing Options – RAMVPN personal VPN plans (5MBPS speeds, 10 MBPS speed bursts) are available from $8.99 per month, $27.99 for 3 months, $39.99 for 6 months and $59.99 for a year. Additionally, the company offers Enterprise VPN plans with 100 MBPS speeds.

Final Verdict – It is clear RAMVPN is one of the most secure VPN services currently available in the market. While the service doesn’t allow you to choose your exit node, it goes to great lengths to ensure your security and privacy. However, the service is no longer accepting customers, so try some of the other services listed on our site.
