Pretty Little Liars Availability

Pretty Little Liars is telecast on Tuesday nights on the ABC Family channel. The series episodes are also available online through the Pretty Little Liars page of the ABC Family portal (abcfamily.go.com/shows/pretty-little-liars). However, the availability of online episodes is restricted just to US residents due to content licensing restrictions. International visitors as well as US expats and tourists just see the message – “You appear to be outside the United States or its territories. Due to international rights agreements, we only offer this video to viewers located within the United States and its territories” whenever they try to access the series online.

How ABC Family Restricts Access To Pretty Little Liars Online?

ABC Family has tied up with many channels to distribute Pretty Little Liars outside United States (Viva and MTV in UK, TV2 in New Zealand, Fox8 in Australia, Much Music in Canada, Channel 4 in Denmark etc.). Due to the broadcasting agreements signed between ABC Family and its partners, the channel no longer holds the right to broadcast the show outside American territories. In order to honor the content sharing agreements that it has signed with its partners, ABC Family checks the IP address of its visitors and only allows viewers with a US IP address to watch the series’ episodes.

Since the IP address is responsible for revealing your location to ABC Family, you need to change your real IP address and switch to a US IP in order to unlock Pretty Little Liars episodes from abroad. This can be done by subscribing to an IP changing service such as a proxy or a VPN. Even though proxies are more popular among netizens, VPNs offer significant speed, privacy and security benefits which make them well-suited for unlocking streaming shows online.

How To Unlock Pretty Little Liars From Outside Of US With A VPN

Step 1: Subscribe to a USA VPN plan that offers fast speeds and unlimited bandwidth. For unblocking Pretty Little Liars from abroad, it is better to sign up with a reputed provider such as ExpressVPN, StrongVPN, Overplay, IPVanish or HideMyAss since these providers offer great speeds along with IP addresses from all parts of United States.

Step 2: Install the VPN application supplied by the provider or setup the service manually by following the instructions provided by your vendor. A lot of VPN companies provide custom clients for PCs but mobile devices usually require manual configuration.

Step 3: Save the connection details and restart your system in case you installed any software on the machine. In addition, make sure to close and restart the ABC Family app on your Smartphone or tablet so that it can use VPN connection details to connect to ABC Family portal.

Step 4: Once the setup is complete, fire up the service by clicking its desktop VPN icon or tapping the Connect option on the mobile screen. The connection time would vary depending on your location and internet speed so you may have to wait for some time before the connection becomes ready to use.

Step 5: Check the location of the IP address allocated to you by the VPN service. If the IP is not from United States then you need to search for and switch to a US VPN server offered by your provider before visiting the ABC Family website.
