Saturday, November 9th, 2013

Royal Pains is a medical-drama and comedy TV series which made its debut in June’ 2009. The series was developed by Andrew Lenchewski and John P. Rogers for the USA Network TV channel. Royal Pains has received a positive response from the audience as well as critics with the series scoring an IMDB rating of 6.6 and Metacritic score of 62. Due to the popularity of the show, USA Network renewed the series for its fifth and sixth seasons in 2012. The fifth season of the show premiered in 2013 whereas the sixth season will make its debut in 2014.

Royal Pains Storyline And Plot

The story of Royal Pains revolves around Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein), a young E.R. doctor who is incorrectly blamed for the death of an important patient. Disillusioned, Hank moves to the Hamptons and becomes a “doctor for hire” for the rich and famous people living there. When Jill Casey (Jill Flint), the attractive administrator of the local hospital, asks Hank to treat the town’s poor people, he is forced to walk a tight rope between helping others and doing well for himself.

Royal Pains Broadcast Schedule And Availability

Royal Pains is telecast on Wednesday nights at 9 P.M. on the USA Network channel. The series episodes are even available online through the USA Network’s portal (usanetwork.com/royalpains). However, due to content licensing restrictions, the online episodes are available only to US residents. When international visitors try to watch the show’s episodes online, they see the message – “This content is not available in your location” as well as hear – “This content is currently unavailable”. Such restrictions severely limit the entertainment choices available to US expats and tourists since they are deprived of the latest episodes of their favorite shows when they are abroad.

Why USA Network Restricts Access To Royal Pains Online?

USA Network has tied up with many channels to distribute Royal Pains outside America (Seven Network in Australia, Universal Channel in UK, Canal+ in France, Viasat in Norway, RTL in Germany and Star World in South-East Asia). Due to the content sharing deals agreed upon by USA Network and its regional partners, the channel is not allowed to broadcast the show outside America. To enforce the agreements online, USA Network checks the IP address of all its visitors and only allows people with US IP to watch the show’s latest episodes.

Since your IP address is the prime reason why you are not able to watch Royal Pains from abroad, you need to switch to a US IP by using an IP changing service. Although changing of IP address sounds complicated, in reality it can be achieved easily through a proxy or VPN service. A lot of proxy providers do not provide a fast and truly anonymous IP changing service so it is much better to use a VPN to change IP address and unlock streaming services online.
